Drina (Bosnia) Hajdi

Ex Yu Tour I – Bosnia and Herzegovina

Drina u istočnoj Bosni i Hercegovini, u blizini Zvornika, predstavlja prirodnu granicu izmedju Srbije i Bosne & Hercegovine.

The river Drina in eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina, near Zvornik, represents the natural border between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Canyon of the Drina river is the third largest in the world. The unpredictable and uncontrollable, it is a real beauty with a thousand of faces.DSC_0069DSC_0049

Sarajevo Sebilj  is located in Bascarsija in Sarajevo. Represents a fountain, that has a special shape, and it was built in 1891. The entire Bascarsija was built in the 15th century, when Isa Beg Isakovic founded the whole city.

Baščaršija is one of the oldest bazaar in Sarajevo, in which were long time ago, around 80 shops and craft workshops. Each street had it’s trade, eg. – blacksmiths, saddlers …

Mountain river, green beauty – Neretva, which accompanied us along the way, in this place people turned it’s magic water in artificial Jablanica lake. Emerald color that fascinates, is drinkable in the upper course, and a lot of people called it the Nile of Herzegovina.

Unique in the world, since no one style of architecture is like it, Bridge in Mostar on the Neretva River, is truly breathtaking. It was built by a certain Hajrudin, from 1557-66, but unfortunately the old bridge is no more there, and it was reconstructed in the new one. Like an arrow, rearing skyward, its strength and beauty, lasting for centuries. Semi-circular, projecting in the water, it represents the life itself. If you’re brave enough, on the bridge is maintaining the jumping competitions, so who like it should try it!

U ovom hercegovačkom bajkovitom gradiću, nalazi se i Karađozbegova džamija, koju krasi  inspirativna ornamentika i orjentalni duh. Gradjena je kad i most, od 1557-58.

In this Herzegovinian magical town, is also a Karadozbegova mosque, adorned with inspirational ornaments and oriental spirit. Built in the same decade when the bridge, from 1557-58.

Hercegovinian Gracanica, a true copy of the monastery of Gracanica in Kosovo. It was built in 2000, on the hill Crkvine above Trebinje, with a desire that the remains of the famous poet Jovan Ducic, would be buried in the crypt of the edifice.

Old nest of Trebinje, was created in the 17th century, during the Turks. It’s Mediterranean and oriental architecture, pleasant atmosphere and great food, knows how to attract visitors.

Tvrdos Monastery is located 4 km from Trebinje, and dates from the 16th century, although the original church dates back to the 4th century and can be seen in the foundation of this Orthodox sanctity. It was founded by St. Emperor Constantine and his mother Jelena. The monastery also owns a winery Tvrdos, and my recommendation is Zilavka wine.

Višegradski most, odnosno Most Mehmed Paše Sokolovića, gradjen je od 1571 do  1577, visoko nad hirovitom Drinom. Kroz četiri veka, kroz koliko ga je Ivo Andrić opisao, i sami smo svedoci njegove veličanstvenosti, jer on uprkost svemu postoji, a ljudska sudbina je tako mala i prolazna, spram jedne gradjevine sazdane od kamenena.

“Bridge on the Drina”, so called by our Nobel Laureate writer Ivo Andric. Visegrad bridge – Mehmed Pasha Sokolovic Bridge, was built from 1571 to 1577, high above the whimsical river Drina. Through four centuries, trough how much of them Ivo Andric described it, we are witnesses of it’s majesty, because despite of all, it exists, and human destiny is so small and transient, against one building  caves from the stone.

Predivne slike! Prolazila sam kroz Sarajevo i Mostar puno puta ali nikako nisam svratila da prodjem gradom – to do list for next year! Jeste li bili i u Banja Luci (u blizini zivim ja :D)?
